RENO, Nev. (AP) -- Highway patrol officials say they've counted 92 crashes and dozens of spin-outs in northern Nevada amid wintery weather in the past day.
Trooper Chuck Allen says 33 of the crashes reported between 10 a.m. Wednesday and 6 a.m. Thursday involved injuries. Another 59 collisions only involved property damage.
Allen says most of the crashes happened in the Reno-Sparks area, and only a handful were called in from rural northern Nevada.
Troopers say the most serious was a three-car accident that happened about 4 a.m. Thursday on Interstate 80 near the Victorian Avenue interchange. Allen says a driver who got out of his disabled vehicle was hit by a pickup and pinned against a concrete barrier.
The victim was taken to the hospital with a very serious leg injury.
