Pops bursts into tears at priceless Christmas present

TUSCALOOSA, AL (KCTV) -

An Alabama grandfather received an amazing Christmas surprise that even the Notre Dame faithful would enjoy.

And he was so overwhelmed that he did something unexpected: he burst into tears.

Boaz resident Don Buckhannan is a huge fan of the Crimson Tide. Huge.

But he's not a wealthy man so he expected to watch the "big game" on television.

He was shocked when his son, Daniel, surprised him with tickets to the BCS national championship when the No. 2 team will play Notre Dame in Miami, FL.

Daniel Buckhannan said he "was blessed to be able to give my dad a ticket to the championship game."

The gift was provided with a bit of drama all recorded and uploaded to YouTube.

After the grandkids had opened their presents, Daniel Buckhannan gave his father a fedora in the style sported by Alabama's legendary coach Bear Bryant.

He sat beaming with the hat on his head unaware what was tucked up against the top.

After trying the new fedora on, his son asked his father what size the hat was (with an assistance from excited grandkids). At that moment, Don Buckhannan saw the BCS tickets followed by a big Southern smile from ear-to-ear.

The video has become an internet hit with more than 2 million views since it was posted over the weekend.
