Pet Pals: Sweet natured boy named Artemis

Posted: Updated:

This week's Pet Pal is Artemis, who's a longtime resident at the shelter.

He's a 6-year old Labrador retriever mix and a survivor of neglect. At the time of his rescue, he was covered in motor oil and had severe ear infections and a dulled spirit, consistent with living in a junkyard.

Now, thanks to volunteers and staff, he has warmed up to people and loves to show off his joyful smile.

The Nevada SPCA dedicates each Christmas Eve to senior animals, animals with special needs, and to animals that have been at the shelter the longest.

All will have special gifts as an extra benefit with the adoptions.

The shelter is open on Christmas Eve for limited hours from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. If you're interested in adopting today, the staff asks you arrive by 1 p.m.

Also, if someone is considering an animal as a Christmas gift, he or she needs to bring the person receiving the animal to the shelter with them. The main caretaker needs to be the person who signs the adoption contract with the organization.

If you are interested in adopting Artemis or any of the other pets at the animal shelter, visit the Nevada SPCA at 4800 W. Dewey Drive in Las Vegas or call 702-873-7722.
