LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
Police arrested a man whom investigators believe tried to kill his brother-in-law in a highway shooting outside of Las Vegas.
Richard William Pearson, 39, was wanted as a suspect in the Nov. 14 incident that involved his relative, Robert Bessey.
According to Las Vegas Metro police, Pearson and Bessey's adopted son, Michael, were suspected of plotting to kill their relative by a drive-by shooting on Interstate 15.
Police said Robert Bessey was shot in the neck during the overnight incident.
According to Metro, Bessey told officers the back window of his vehicle was shot out and he found that he had been shot in the neck.
Metro also said Bessey saw a gold GMC Yukon drive up beside his vehicle just before the incident.
Bessey was transported to University Medical Center where he underwent surgery and was later released, police said.
Michael Bessey, 21, was arrested a couple of days following the shooting. According to police, Michael confirmed the time and location of surveillance photos taken around the time of the shooting, but stopped answering police questions and asked for a lawyer.
Metro said tips led the department's Criminal Apprehension Team to Pearson at a residence in the 4500 block of Birdsong Way on Dec. 12.
Police said Pearson was seen on security video with Michael Bessey just before the time of the shooting.
Pearson was booked into Clark County Detention Center on charges including attempted murder with a deadly weapon, conspiracy to commit murder, battery with a deadly weapon and a parole violation.
