12/12/12 is a date many are celebrating as it's the last time three of the same numbers will line up on one date for a long time.
Hundreds of couples in Las Vegas took advantage of the calendar date to make it one of the most treasured days of their lives.
Twelve nervous grooms waited for their blushing brides inside the Chapel of the Flowers on Las Vegas Boulevard. When the clock struck 12:12 p.m., the epic ceremony began.
The couples won free weddings from radio station KOMP 92.3.
"We've been friends for over 16 years and here we are," said newlywed Keri Schmit.
Leon Ellis and his new wife, Christina Ellis, had been waiting for this day for more than a year. They had been holding on to a completed marriage certificate, unable to pay for a wedding after Christina Ellis became ill.
"In the last two months, I've been able to get out a wheelchair and walk. I've been waiting to get married so I can walk down the aisle. It's a very special day for me," Christina Ellis said.
It wasn't just wedding chapels that were busy on Wednesday. Freed's Bakery owner Max Jacobson was baking cakes as fast as he could.
"It's December, so it's not quite like the middle of a wedding season like it's 7/7/7 or 11/11/11, but we still have 30 to 60 wedding cakes going out today," he said.
Fried said that's a lot of wedding cakes, especially for a Wednesday in December. With each cake costing between $2,000 and $5,000, it's a huge boost to his business.
Wedding chapels cashed in as well. Chapel of the Flowers performed more than 80 weddings.
In case you're wondering, the next time the dates will align like this will be on Jan. 1, 2101, or 1/1/1. You might want to go ahead and celebrate today.
