Residents can't seem to forget Friday night when gunshots were fired into this eastside apartment unit.
"It kind of creeps me out staying around here now knowing that someone would run upstairs to shoot someone," said Tommy Nguyen, an apartment resident.
"It sounded like fireworks. At first it was like pow pow pow and then it seemed quiet. I thought it was my son talking. Then we heard another pow pow pow," said Tia Flowers, the victim's neighbor.
Within minutes, Metro police arrived to the crime scene inside the Canyon Pointe Apartments. Officers found three females inside the residence - an elderly injured woman, a 3-year-old unharmed girl and a 29-year-old dead female.
"I miss her and it makes me think about her and how she was in there. What really happened in there," added Flowers.
The victim has been identified as 29-year-old Nichole Nick. Her mother, who was visiting for the holidays, is in stable condition.
"Our homicide investigators have determined that this shooting was the outgrowth of a domestic dispute," said Metro Officer Bill Cassell.
Investigators are seeking 42-year-old Robert Brown as a person of interest. He was believed to have been in a relationship with the victim.
"When you are dealing with highly emotional issues, the chance for violence increases," added Cassell.
This homicide was part of a higher than normal violent weekend for the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
"Around the holiday season, the incidents of crime goes up simply because there are more targets of opportunities out there," said Cassell.
