CENTRAL, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Pickens County deputies said Clemson University students are not being targeted in the wake of the fatal shooting of sophomore Saturday night.

Assistant Sheriff Tim Morgan said deputies are actively investigating the homicide after three masked men entered a Central home on Smoke Rise Drive in the Homes at Chimney Ridge neighborhood where 23-year-old Steven Grich was shot to death.

Morgan said investigators are looking at security camera footage and are looking for a black 2005 Dodge Durango with silver wheels, tinted windows and blue tinted headlights in connection with Grich's death.

"Be alert. Be aware," Morgan said. "And know what you're doing. Don't be involved in behaviors you shouldn't be involved in."

Morgan said while students should lock their cars and homes, they should not open the door for strangers and to report any strange activity, he said no one was out targeting Clemson students.

Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced for Grich, who was from Fort Mill, SC, and was studying electrical engineering.

"[Grich's death] ruins several lives, but not only this Christmas, but every Christmas to come for that family," Morgan said. "You feel terrible for them."

Grich's roommate was arrested after deputies said they found marijuana in the apartment. They said 29-year-old Robert McKinley was charged with simple possession of marijuana.
