Two people were shot in an apparent overnight altercation in a west Las Vegas neighborhood.

Las Vegas Metro police reported the shooting in the 5300 block of Longridge Avenue, near Charleston and Decatur boulevards, about 2:30 a.m. Monday.

According to police, a woman in her 20s was shot in the head while a man was shot in the hand. Police said the female victim sustained life-threatening injuries.

Both people were transported to University Medical Center.

Police believe the shooting stemmed from an argument between a man living at the home near the shooting and the suspect.

Police did not specify the suspect's description other than to say that person wore dark clothing.

Police urge anyone with information on the shooting to call Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
