If you're from the Midwest or the Northeast, you know all about snow days. Las Vegas valley students aren't so lucky.
Fortunately, the Las Vegas Ski and Snowboard Resort is making sure local kids get to experience a snow day full of fun and winter recreation.
The Snow Day program kicks off in January and runs through the end of March. For $30, your child can enjoy a two-hour ski or snowboard lesson with lift ticket, equipment and helmet, a first aid course, winter ecology course and lunch.
A complimentary chaperone ticket will be included for every 12 students. Groups are limited to 200 students and one chaperone is required for every 20 students. Scholarships are available for those who cannot afford the registration fee.
"Las Vegas youth typically don't have the opportunity to experience a traditional snow day, so we have created one for them," said Kevin Stickelman, LVSSR's president and general manager. "The goal is to get our local youth exposed to winter recreation, educate them about it and hopefully inspire them to lead healthy, active lifestyles."
