LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
Santa is helping Clark County commissioners get in the holiday spirit with the lighting of a 35-foot tree.
It will take place in the amphitheater of the Clark County Government Center in downtown Las Vegas on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
Local carolers will also perform in the Government Center rotunda. They include students from seven high schools throughout the valley. Each school's choir will perform for an hour from 9 a.m. to noon on Thursday, and from 10 a.m. to noon on Friday.
"The holidays are a wonderful time when all people can reflect on what's truly important in our lives and in our community," said Commission Chair Susan Brager. "I hope lighting this tree brings joy to everyone who gazes upon it."
The Clark County Government Center is located at 500 South Grand Central Pkwy.
