LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
People living near Nellis Air Force Base are being notified of increased aircraft activity going on this week.
Officials said the military base's weapons school is conducting a training exercise that involves aircraft not usually assigned to Nellis.
The exercises, or, what the base calls, Mission Employment Phase, are being done during the day and night. The activity began Monday and is expected to run through Dec. 12.
Nellis AFB said the activity teaches trainees on diverse scenarios in combat situations.
The primary exercise course is north of Las Vegas in an area comprising 12,000 square miles of airspace and 2.9 million acres of land, officials said.
