Fourth and fifth grade students at Ruby Thomas Elementary School are celebrating their healthy eating habits with a ribbon-cutting ceremony today at 1 p.m.
Local nonprofit, Create a Change Now, joined by Mayor Carolyn Goodman and Whole Foods Market will participate in the ceremony, and will unveil the "Whole Foods Garden," featuring edible plants.
The event is part of an ongoing initiative of the organization to fight childhood obesity, by showing students how to plant edible gardens and by encouraging a hands-on approach in the kitchen.
Whole Food Markets around the valley helped make the garden possible, during "Community Support Day" on April 10, when five percent of the net sales from that day were donated to Create a Change Now.
