LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
A vehicle collision with a power pole knocked out traffic lights on a stretch of E. Sahara Avenue Monday morning.
According to NV Energy, the collision that happened just after 5:30 a.m. created four-way stops at Sahara intersections at Eastern Avenue, Atlantic Street and McLeod Drive.
The collision caused power to go out for 1,200 customers in the area, the utility company said. NV Energy reported power to about 60 percent of those customers were restored shortly after the incident.
A spokesperson said the pole will have to be completely replaced in order for full power to be restored.
A timetable for that replacement was not disclosed.
The Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles said its office at Sahara was also affected by the outage. The department closed the office as a result, according to the DMV website.
FOX5 traffic anchor Chris Brown suggested drivers take Charleston Boulevard as an alternate route around the Sahara outages.
