The kidnapping suspect who led authorities on a manhunt from Alaska to East Texas is dead.

Authorities in Anchorage, Alaska confirm that Israel Keyes died Sunday morning after an apparent suicide.

Back in March, Israel Keyes was arrested outside The Cotton Patch Cafe in Lufkin, one month after authorities say Keyes kidnapped 18-year-old Samantha Koenig in Anchorage.

Samantha Koenig was abducted from a coffee shop where she worked. Her body was found in a lake in Alaska in April.

The trial date for Israel Keyes was set to take place on March 11th, 2013.

Authorities say Keyes was believed to be linked to at least seven other slayings in Vermont, New York and Washington state.
