CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) -- Republican leaders in the Nevada Senate say thousands of young immigrants brought to this country illegally by their parents and given a temporary reprieve by President Obama to remain in this country should be eligible to obtain driver licenses or state identification.
Senate Minority Leader Michael Roberson of Henderson says he supports existing state policy to allow anyone granted employment authorization cards by the federal Department of Homeland Security to also get a driver's license or state ID.
Reaction from Roberson and other Senate Republican leaders comes a day after another GOP lawmaker, Sen. James Settelmeyer of Minden, told the Las Vegas Sun the issue should be discussed by the Legislature when it meets next year.
