Marathon forcing closures on Vegas Strip

Metro police are planning a set of closure on the Strip for this weekend's Las Vegas Marathon.

The marathon is slated to begin at 3 p.m., with a half marathon to follow 90 minutes later.

The race will begin in the northbound lanes of Las Vegas Boulevard in front of Mandalay Bay. The finish line is located in front of the Mirage and Caesars Palace.

The following roads are slated to close at the following times:

  • Northbound lanes of Las Vegas Boulevard in front of Mandalay Bay from Russell Road to Hacienda Avenue will be closed at 12:30 p.m.
  • The area in front of Mirage and Caesars on Las Vegas Boulevard from Spring Mountain to Flamingo Roads will be closed Sunday from 10 a.m. to approximately 2 a.m. Monday morning.
  • All north and southbound travel lanes on Las Vegas Boulevard will be closed at 2 p.m. from Sunset Road to Stewart Avenue. East and westbound roads will close at 2:30 p.m.
  • Las Vegas Boulevard is scheduled to reopen at 7:30 p.m. in the areas of Sunset Road, Russell Road and Tropicana Avenue.
