HENDERSON, NV (FOX5) -
A Nevada assemblywoman from Henderson announced her resignation, just weeks after winning re-election.
The office of April Mastroluca, D-Henderson, said Friday she submitted her resignation from the State Assembly to Gov. Brian Sandoval.
Mastroluca cited "unanticipated family issues" for the move.
"It is with deep regret that I must resign my seat," said Mastroluca. "But some unanticipated family issues have emerged, and I must put my family first."
The Clark County Commission is expected to appoint her replacement, according to Mastroluca's office.
According to the State Assembly website, Mastroluca was first elected to her position in 2008.
