An attempted sexual assault suspect claimed to be a federal agent before handcuffing a woman and groping her, Las Vegas Metro police said.

Officers are seeking the suspect connected to the incident that took place on Sept. 3 at about 3 a.m. in the area of Wyoming Avenue and Las Vegas Boulevard.

According to police, a 23-year-old woman called 911 dispatchers that she had been pursued by a man who handcuffed her.

Police said after handcuffs were removed from the victim, she fled from the scene.

Police described the suspect as a white man, 45-55 years of age, about 6 feet tall and 200-220 pounds. He had brown hair and a long goatee-style beard with streaks of grey in the middle.

The suspect was last seen on foot in the 1200 block of Las Vegas Boulevard South, according to LVMPD.

Police urge anyone with information on the incident to call Metro's Sexual Assault Section at 702-828-3421 or Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
