LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
The 14th annual Chet Buchanan & the Morning Zoo Toy Drive is under way in the NV Energy parking lot at Sahara Avenue and Jones Boulevard in Las Vegas.
Chet Buchanan, 98.5's morning host, will be camping out there live for 12 days in an effort to supply toys to thousands of families in the Valley.
HELP of Southern Nevada was able to supply gifts to around 3,500 families last year because of the extended toy drive. More than 18,000 kids got toys just in time for the holidays that they otherwise wouldn't have received.
Buchanan says he cries several times a day hearing the stories of generosity from Las Vegans. He said his favorite stories are from people who needed some help last year because of them going through a rough time, and then the next year they're donating because they're back on their feet.
Thursday morning got off to a great start with a $20,000 donation from Rick Harrison and Chumlee from the hit TV show Pawn Stars. Harrison says Las Vegas has been so good to him and he feels it's important to give back.
In addition to the gift they also revealed they've signed on for another 80 episodes of their hit TV show, and Chumlee says he's working on a wine company as well as a clothing line.
If you'd like to donate to the cause you can stop by anytime until Dec. 10 at the NV Energy parking lot to drop off new, unwrapped toys, gift cards, bikes or cash donations.
