A leading nonprofit in providing eye care to underprivileged children is teaming with the Clark County School District to open its first Las Vegas campus.
Founded in 2001 by Salt Lake City board-certified optician Joseph Carbone, Eye Care 4 Kids has helped some 50,000 low-income children and adults get the eye care they desperately need but otherwise couldn't afford.
Children who qualify for the program will have the opportunity to receive comprehensive eye exams and glasses at no cost.
The goal is not only to improve their vision, but also their ability to excel in the classroom as many of these students are so nearsighted they can't even see the chalkboard.
The grand opening is Saturday Dec. 1 at the Brinley Community School at 10 a.m.
