LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
A total of 91 schools in Clark County were rated as "exemplary" in the latest school district ranking measuring classroom success.
The Clark County School District released its 2012-2013 School Performance Framework ranking system, placing a rating of one to five stars on each of the district's 357 schools.
CCSD officials said the rating system provides transparency on each school's accountability to improve success in the classroom. Five-star schools serve as a model for lower ranking schools to work up to, the district said.
"While it may be tempting to take a victory lap, we must remain focused on making sure all of our schools become Four and Five-Star institutions," Superintendent Dwight D. Jones said.
Fourteen high schools were rated with five stars in the previous ranking released in May. The May ranking was the district's inaugural list.
The district said the five-star schools will be given autonomy over curriculum, budget and operations.
Representatives from the five-star schools took part Thursday in a symbolic go-kart race recognizing their top achievement.
