NORTH LAS VEGAS, NV (FOX5) -

Firefighters battled a two-alarm fire at the Secured Fibers recycling plant, located near Craig Road and N. Lamb Boulevard in North Las Vegas, on Wednesday afternoon.

The fire broke out at around noon and smoke could be seen billowing from the plant. Firefighters said flames were shooting up between 20 and 30 feet in the air.

North Las Vegas Fire used 13 units and more than 50 firefighters to battle the blaze. Most of the fire was knocked down within 40 minutes; however, firefighters had to use heavy equipment to access deep-seated parts of the fire within bundles of cardboard and piles of other recyclables.

The fire remains under investigation and an estimate concerning the extent of structural damage is forthcoming.
