A man has been arrested in Arkansas and is awaiting extradition to Nevada in connection with a possible slaying in Las Vegas.
On Monday, a citizen flagged down a Metro officer near the intersection of Jones Boulevard and Smoke Rancho Road, requesting a welfare check for a man in a nearby condominium.
When police arrived, they discovered the body of a man who appeared to have died as a result of blunt force trauma.
As a result of the investigation, an arrest warrant was issued for Richard Heron, Jr., 32, of Las Vegas. That same day, Heron was taken into custody in Sheridan, AR and charged with one count of murder with a deadly weapon.
The coroner will release the victim's identity and cause of death in the coming days.
Police said the incident remains under investigation and anyone with information is urged to call Metro's Homicide section at (702)-828-3521 or Crime Stoppers at (702)-385-5555. You may also leave information online at www.crimestoppersofnv.com.
