A northwest Arizona man was accused of shooting his cleaning lady after she asked for payment.
According to the Mohave County Sheriff's department, Winfred Millard Murphy, 77, of Dolan Springs, Ariz. was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
According to deputies, a 23-year-old woman was transported to a local fire station with a gunshot wound to her left arm on Nov. 21.
Authorities said the woman told deputies she was at Murphy's home to do cleaning when she asked for payment from him. According to the sheriff's department, the woman said he became upset after the request and he started grabbing her by the hair.
During a scuffle, the woman said Murphy grabbed a pistol and shot her.
Deputies were able to arrest Murphy at his home without incident, but not after he was unresponsive to commands to surrender. Deputies were able to find weapons in the home, according to the sheriff's department.
Murphy was booked into the Mohave County Jail.
The woman was airlifted to Sunrise Medical Center in Las Vegas.
