An initial hearing was scheduled Tuesday for a Las Vegas woman accused of backing over her boyfriend with her vehicle in the driveway of their home.
The court pushed back a hearing for Sounilak Ouchlaeun, 33, on Monday, citing a need for an interpreter for the defendant, according to Las Vegas Justice Court.
Ouchlaeun was charged on a count of murder with a deadly weapon after, what police said, was an argument that spilled out to the driveway.
According to Las Vegas Metro police, she and her boyfriend, Conrado Mendoza, had gotten in an argument in their home on Mammoth Creek Drive, near Flamingo Road and Buffalo Drive, on Nov. 19.
In an arrest report, she told detectives she, Mendoza and his friend were drinking that day.
An argument broke out between Ouchlaeun and Mendoza, which nearly came to blows when he attempted to strike her, according to the report.
At about 10 p.m., Ouchlaeun said she attempted to flee, gathering her dogs and starting her vehicle. She said Mendoza got behind the vehicle, saying, "Don't go, don't go." She stepped on the gas, backed out of the driveway and ran Mendoza over.
Ouchlaeun told detectives she did not intend to run Mendoza over; rather, she was attempting to leave in order to give him time to cool off. Police said it appeared Mendoza was dragged about six feet before the vehicle came to a stop.
Witness accounts of the incident differ somewhat from Ouchlaeun's story. Mendoza's friend told police Ouchlaeun had slapped Mendoza during their argument.
Ouchlaeun's hearing was slated for 7:30 a.m. in Las Vegas Justice Court.
