Authorities released the name of a man who died after a motorcycle collided with a vehicle near Nellis Air Force Base.

Jim Edd Burchette, 58, died Sunday in the incident, according to the Clark County Coroner's office.

Las Vegas Metro police said Burchette died after the accident on Nellis Boulevard and Cheyenne Avenue about 2 p.m. Sunday.

Police said a Ford Focus was traveling north on Nellis when it drove over the center median and head-on into the motorcycle traveling south.

The Clark County Coroner on scene said the motorcyclist was killed on impact.

The driver of the Ford Focus, Prentiss Bates, 37, was arrested for driving under the influence, causing death.
