LVFR reported the blazed at the Alpine Village Apartments in the 900 block of Brush Street, near Charleston and Decatur boulevards, about 12:55 p.m. Sunday.

Officials said heavy flames and smoke were coming from a two-story apartment building and required two units to fight off the blaze.

Nearby residents reportedly tried to rescue a person inside the apartment but were unable to make the attempt.
