A suspected drunk driver slams into a valley bus stop after hitting four other cars on Saturday afternoon. Fortunately no one but the driver was hurt. Several witnesses said they tackled the driver as he tried to take off.

"I thought I was going to have to jump on the guys hood and roll over," said Michael Reo. "The other car crashed into him and saved me."

Reo was riding his bike near Sahara and Jones. He does it all the time. He said a car narrowly missed him and accelerated straight into a bus stop.

"He was swerving," said Reo. "He was fishtailing and he lost control. I saw him go directly into the bus stop. I saw people scatter everywhere. Luckily no one got hit."

Metro said the man behind the wheel faces charges for drunk driving. He ran a red light as he was making a left on Jones. He then crashed into two cars. He tried to get away and then he crashed into two more cars and the bus stop. Several witnesses tackled him.

"I have a lot of martial arts and wrestling experience," said Dwayne Kittell. "I just made sure we can pin him to the ground."

"He put all those lives in danger at the bus stop," said Cory Nelson. "I wanted to make sure whether it was on purpose or on accident he didn't get away."

Nelson said the bus stop crash on Spring Mountain and Decatur that killed four pedestrians in July is still fresh on his mind.

"After what's happened in this city," said Nelson. "It's awful."

As for Reo, he calls them heroes and he's thankful for their help. He said it could have been worse.

"People did a good thing," said Reo. "They didn't let him just get away. He caused a lot of damage. I saw an elderly lady sitting right here and I'm surprised she jumped out of the way in time. He's lucky he didn't kill nobody."

The driver was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. Metro said he once he's released from the hospital he will be booked at the Clark County Detention Center for driving under the influence.
