A Las Vegas woman who tried to get away from her boyfriend following a fight late Monday reportedly backed over and fatally injured the man in the couple's driveway.

That's according to Metro police, who arrested 33-year-old Sounilak Ouchlaeun on a charge of murder with a deadly weapon.

Police said the victim, identified as Conrado Mendoza, was found underneath Ouchlaeun's vehicle just after 10 p.m. at their home on Mammoth Creek Drive, near Flamingo and Buffalo Drive.

When police arrived at the scene, they said Ouchlaeun confessed to having driven her 2010 Toyota Venza over Mendoza. Police said she smelled of alcohol and they administered a sobriety test, which she failed. She also had blood on her hands and face.

Ouchlaeun told detectives the incident began earlier in the day when she returned to the couple's home to find Mendoza and a friend drinking. She began drinking as well and eventually an argument between Ouchlaeun and Mendoza broke out. The couple was arguing about Ouchlaeun's interactions with coworkers at the Rio casino, where they were both card dealers.

Ouchlaeun said Mendoza became highly agitated, slamming his fists on walls and breaking a cabinet. She further said Mendoza attempted to strike her but she blocked his hand with her arm.

At about 10 p.m., Ouchlaeun said she attempted to flee, gathering her dogs and starting her vehicle. She said Mendoza got behind the vehicle, saying, "Don't go, don't go." She stepped on the gas, backed out of the driveway and ran Mendoza over.

Ouchlaeun told detectives she did not intend to run Mendoza over; rather, she was attempting to leave in order to give him time to cool off. Police said it appeared Mendoza was dragged about six feet before the vehicle came to a stop.

Witness accounts of the incident differ somewhat from Ouchlaeun's story. Mendoza's friend told police Ouchlaeun had slapped Mendoza during their argument.

Ouchlaeun is currently at Clark County Detention Center.
