LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Impaired drivers will be targeted in a driving under intoxication checkpoint before Thanksgiving, Las Vegas Metro police said.

According to Metro, an emphasis on drug impairment will be placed at the checkpoint as officers seek and recognized drugged drivers, as well as those driving drunk.

The checkpoint is scheduled from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m. on Wednesday in a location in the southwest part of the Las Vegas valley, police said.

Metro said it is continuing its aim to stop deadly vehicle collisions stemming from intoxicated driving.
