Mark W. Gemma of Gemma Law Associates, Inc., says he looks forward to working with fellow Board members in advancing his alma mater’s goal of teaching complex legal theory while developing students’ practical skills as lawyers.
Providence, R.I. (PRWEB) November 16, 2012
Providence personal injury lawyer Mark W. Gemma has been named to the Board of Directors of the Roger Williams University School of Law.
Gemma is a 1997 graduate of the law school who has earned national recognition for his legal ability and commitment to legal ethics as a principal attorney with the Providence personal injury firm of Gemma Law Associates, Inc.
He has received the distinction of an AV Peer Review Rating from Martindale-Hubbell, the highest recognition of legal excellence of its kind, and he has been listed in the area of Personal Injury (Plaintiffs) in Rhode Island Super Lawyers magazine.
In addition to serving as President of the Rhode Island Association of Justice, Gemma also is the President of the Council of Presidents for the American Association of Justice.
He said he looks forward to collaborating with fellow Board members while furthering the law school’s mission of developing an intellectual and philosophical understanding of the law while, at the same, building practical skills that will serve students well in the legal profession.
“As a graduate of the Roger Williams University School of Law, I fully appreciate the school’s approach to legal education,” said Gemma, a past president of the law school’s Alumni Association. “It’s an honor to give back to the school that prepared me so well for my legal career by serving as a member of its Board of Directors.”
The Roger Williams University School of Law is based in Bristol, Rhode Island. The private institution is the state’s only law school.
According to the 2013 edition of “The Best 168 Law Schools” by the Princeton Review, “Learning at Roger Williams University School of Law is not only academic, but also experiential.”
The publication cites the law school’s Pro Bono Collaborative, which links law students with area practitioners to work on pro bono projects, as well as the school’s Feinstein Institute for Legal Service as examples of providing practical learning experiences for students.
