Rivalries will be renewed. UNLV football on Thursday announced its upcoming schedule will include games with longtime rival BYU and Central Michigan University.
The Rebels faced the Cougars 18 times from 1978 to 2010, after which BYU left the Mountain West to become independent. The teams have signed a two-year, home-and-home deal. UNLV will travel to Provo, UT on Nov. 15, 2014; BYU will visit Las Vegas on Nov. 14, 2015.
The Cougars lead the all-time series 15-3 in games that were played when both programs were members of the MW and the WAC.
UNLV has signed on to a similar series with CMU. The Chippewas will visit Sam Boyd Stadium on Sept. 18, 2013. The Rebels will visit Mount Pleasant, MI on Sept. 17, 2016.
"We're excited to renew our series with BYU and we think those will be two terrific games for our fans," Livengood said. "We are also very pleased to welcome Central Michigan back to our schedule for the first time in nearly two decades in a series that gets our name into the Midwest. I think both of these series help solidify our future schedules in nothing but positive ways."
