Authorities said they seized nearly 49 pounds of marijuana from a 19-year-old woman crossing the border at the Mariposa Port.
A U.S. Customs and Border Protection representative said during a routine inspection, officers suspected the gas tank was being used to hide drugs, and when officers removed the tank, they found 24 packages of marijuana inside.
The suspect, Alexis Desire Valdez-Zazueta of Nogales, Sonora, Mexico, was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations.
