Dana Brown (Henderson PD)
HENDERSON, NV (FOX5) -
Henderson police have arrested a business owner accused of running a scam involving people court-ordered to attend domestic violence counseling.
Dana Brown, 51, of Las Vegas, was booked into the Henderson Detention Center on three counts of forgery and three counts of offering false instrument for filing of record.
Brown owns Diagnosticare, a Henderson counseling service. It is alleged that Brown took cash payments from people ordered to seek domestic violence counseling and in exchange provided courts with false documentation stating those people attended sessions.
Police were contacted about the scam and began investigating in April. An undercover detective contacted Brown, stating that he had been ordered to attended domestic counseling and offered to pay his way out it.
Brown accepted the detective's money, telling him to stay out of trouble as a subsequent arrest would raise a red flag.
Brown will next appear in court on Thursday. The charges he is facing are felonies.
