LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Metro police have identified the officer involved in a shooting on Hollywood Boulevard on Sunday as Jacquar Roston.

Roston, 36, has been employed by Metro since April of 2009. He is assigned to the Southeast Area Command and has been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation.

Roston shot a man in the leg after responding to a domestic spat.

Police said a woman called police at about 10:22 p.m., requesting help for an ongoing domestic violence situation.

The woman told police her ex-boyfriend had physically battered her and damaged her vehicle.

Roston arrived at the Hollywood Park Recreation Center parking lot, where the woman was inside her vehicle with the ex-boyfriend sitting in the passenger seat.

The officer removed the woman from the vehicle, police said, and spoke to the man, who was still sitting inside.

According to Metro, the officer fired one bullet, hitting the suspect in the leg.

The suspect was taken to University Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. He was listed in stable condition.

Police did not immediately say if the suspect was armed.
