Shooting victims may have been gang target

Posted: Updated:
LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

A man is dead and a woman injured after a shooting on Saturday afternoon in northwest Las Vegas.

Police said they responded to a call concerning a possible shooting at an apartment complex on Simmons Street just before 4:45 p.m.

The male victim was dead when police arrived. The female victim was taken to University Medical Center where she is expected to recover.

Police said the victims were exiting a vehicle when an unknown suspect opened fire on them. There is no indication the victims had a prior altercation with the shooter and investigators suspect the shooting was gang motivated.

The identity of the deceased man will be released by the coroner in the coming days.

The investigation is ongoing. If you have any information on this crime, you're urged to call Metro's Homicide Section at (702)-828-3521 or Crime Stoppers at (702)-385-5555. You also may leave information online at www.crimestoppersofnv.com.
