A Las Vegas man has been sentenced to life in prison after having been convicted of assault, coercion, battery and a laundry list of other charges related to prostitution.

Police said Ocean Fleming, 35, used violent tactics to keep prostitutes in line.

FOX5 sat down with Fleming, or "O" as he is known on the streets. He believes the case against him was built on lies and vowed that his fight is not over.

"We got several 911 calls from families of the victims, from citizens in the area," Metro's Detective Chris Baughman said of Fleming.

Fleming was sentenced to 18 years to life with the possibility of parole for a total of 23 charges, 19 of which are related to prostitution. He was convicted in August and still denies the accusations.

"I can't apologize for something I didn't do. I just can't," Fleming said, speaking from behind bars at Clark County Detention Center.

Fleming maintains he never hit or threatened the women with whom he was associated.

"Were you a pimp? Were you ever a pimp?" FOX5 reporter Matt DeLucia asked.

"No, I wouldn't classify it as a pimp," Fleming replied. "They testified there was prostitutes. I mean, I got kids by prostitutes."

Metro claims Fleming's rap sheet is long, overwhelming and includes gang involvement.

"He brought his violence with him from the gang side, and that's why he was such an important target for us," Baughman said.

Fleming feels the police and prosecutors were out to get him. He did, however, admit that one 911 call included his voice. Police said that 911 call was a kidnapping in progress.

"Was that you?" DeLucia asked.

"Yeah, it was me, but at the time I didn't know what was going on," Fleming replied.

"It's common that once these types of criminals are caught, they don't want to take any ownership of the crimes they committed," Baughman said.

"I'm not a pimp. But to all the pimps out there, you better watch out, because they ain't playing fair," Fleming said.

Fleming said he is working on an appeal and that's he's in contact with some of the victims in this case.

Police said a total of five women all between the ages of 19 and 30 were involved.
