HENDERSON, NV (FOX5) -
Police in Henderson charged six teenagers in connection to damage made on cars with the use of marbles, paintballs and high-powered slingshots.
According to Henderson police, Brandon and Bryce Sepe, both 18, and four 17-year-old boys were booked on Nov. 9 on misdemeanor charges of throwing substances at a motor vehicle.
On Oct. 26-27, cars were damaged in the area of Sunset Road and Boulder Highway, while, on Nov. 3, vehicles were damaged in the area of Stephanie Street and Warm Springs Road, police said.
The police department said the arrests were made after an officer caught the group of teens stealing marbles from a local Walmart location.
According to detectives, cars around the city had been damaged over two consecutive weekends, with damage apparently done by marbles or paintballs. The arresting officer was in place at the Walmart to see if the store had been selling marbles as part of the investigation, police said.
Store security led the officer to the teens, whom were observed taking marbles, police said.
The teens were later stopped by police outside the store. Police also found two slingshots and broken paintballs in a vehicle believed to be used by the group, HPD said.
Most of the teens admitted to the apparent random incidents, saying they were "missions," according to HPD. Police, though, were not able to get a reason for these missions.
Police said damage on the vehicles ranged from $150 to $1,500.
As with two of the teens in the Walmart theft, police also booked a 16-year-old girl on a petty larceny charge, accused of taking the marbles with them.
Police believe there were more victims involved in the incidents. They urged people who believe were affected to contact Henderson PD at 702-267-4750.
