LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

This time, it counts.

After going down to the wire in a one-point exhibition win over Dixie State, the University of Nevada, Las Vegas men's basketball team will kick off its 2012-2013 season Monday against Northern Arizona.

The game is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Thomas and Mack Center on Monday.

The Runnin' Rebels enter the season opening tilt against the Flagstaff, Ariz. school as a top 20 ranked team in the nation.

The team also enters the second season of the Dave Rice era. The head coach led the team to an NCAA-tournament berth last season.

The school's athletics department said about 500 tickets were available for purchase leading up to the opening tip.

Tickets begin at $15 and can be purchased at UNLVtickets.com or at the Thomas and Mack Center box office.

Following the opener, the team will open practice on Thursday at Mendenhall Center and Friday at Thomas and Mack.

Jacksonville State visits the Rebels on Saturday at 7 p.m.
