Police arrested a man suspected of fatally shooting another person inside a North Las Vegas casino.

According to NLV police, 35-year-old Shonta Hammond was detained by security at the Lucky Club Casino, which is located in the 3200 block of Civic Center Drive, after the reported shooting early Monday morning.

Police were called to the casino about 2:41 a.m. and were directed to a 31-year-old man who had sustained apparent gunshot wounds.

The victim was taken to University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

NLVPD said the suspect and the victim got into a dispute inside the casino before the shooting.

Police said Hammond was arrested and booked into Las Vegas City Jail on charges including murder with a deadly weapon, carrying a concealed weapon and convicted felon in possession of a firearm.

Police reported the incident as the ninth homicide in North Las Vegas this year.
