LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

A man was shot in the leg after a police officer responded to a domestic spat late Sunday night, according to Las Vegas Metro police.

According to authorities, a woman called police at about 10:22 p.m. Sunday, requesting help for an ongoing domestic violence situation in the area of Hollywood Boulevard, between Charleston Boulevard and Sahara Avenue.

The woman told police her ex-boyfriend had physically battered her and damaged her vehicle, according to Metro.

Police said a Metro officer arrived at the Hollywood Park Recreation Center parking lot, where the woman was inside her vehicle with the ex-boyfriend sitting in the passenger seat.

The officer removed the woman from the vehicle, police said, and spoke to the man, who was still sitting inside.

According to Metro, the officer fired one bullet, hitting the suspect in the leg.

The suspect was taken to University Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. He was listed in stable condition.

Police did not immediately say if the suspect was armed.

The officer involved in this incident has been placed on paid administrative leave. The identity of the officer will be released after 48 hours.
