A man found dead at a northeast Las Vegas apartment may have been checking a noise at his home when he was shot and killed, according to police.

Las Vegas Metro police reported the apparent homicide at about 12:22 a.m. Friday in the 2900 block of Sandy Lane, near Pecos Road and Las Vegas Boulevard North.

According to police, officers responded to multiple calls of shots fired at an apartment complex.

Officers arrived to find a black man who appeared to have died from multiple gunshot wounds, Metro said.

Investigating detectives said the victim appeared to have gone to the rear of his apartment to check on a noise when the shots were fired. Detectives noted he was shot through a window.

The Clark County Coroner's office was expected to release the victim's name.

Police are urging anyone with information on the incident to call Metro's Homicide Section at (702)-828-3521 or Crime Stoppers at (702)-385-5555.
