1 hurt after apparent shootout in North Las Vegas

NORTH LAS VEGAS, NV (FOX5) -

A North Las Vegas man was rushed to University Medical Center in critical condition after suffering multiple gunshot wounds Monday morning.

According to NLVPD, officers responded to reports of shots fired at an apartment complex on West Gowan Road near Clayton Street about 1:30 a.m.

Officers found a 31-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds, police said.

Police said a preliminary investigation showed an exchange of gunfire between two men, both residents of the complex.

Police said the other man involved was not hurt and was detained for questioning.

Several apartments were hit with stray gunfire, but there were no other injuries.

North Las Vegas police are calling this an attempted murder investigation.
