Police: Pedestrian struck in North Las Vegas crosswalk

A 21-year-old pedestrian was hospitalized after being struck by a mini-van in North Las Vegas on Wednesday.

North Las Vegas police reported the collision at Craig Road and Clayton Street about 11:15 a.m.

According to police, the vehicle was southbound on Clayton and was stopped at the intersection, attempting a left turn on to eastbound Craig.

Just as the vehicle made the turn, the driver struck the 21-year-old man, police said.

Investigators said the pedestrian appeared to be crossing Craig in a crosswalk. They also said alcohol or drugs were not factors in the collision.

The pedestrian, who was not immediately identified, was rushed to University Medical Center with significant head trauma. Police said he was listed in critical condition.

Police closed eastbound lanes of Craig Road between Coleman and Clayton streets.

Police also said charges were pending for the 33-year-old driver.
