LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

The coroner's office Tuesday afternoon identified the man shot and killed by Metro police officers in an incident Monday afternoon on Desert Inn Road near Eastern Avenue.

Ronald James Morrison, 52, of Las Vegas was shot and killed after allegedly brandishing a gun rather than listening to commands from officers.

Morrison had been suspected of shooting a man in the hand just prior to being shot by police.

Metro said Morrison had in the past been arrested for driving under the influence. The accompanying mugshot is from the DUI arrest.

Police said an investigation into Monday's incident is ongoing and that the officers involved have been placed on routine paid administrative leave. The identities of the officers involved will be released on Wednesday.
