LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
A man suspected of taking high denomination chips from the Venetian Hotel and Casino has been arrested in the Los Angeles-area, Las Vegas Metro police said Tuesday.
Akingide Cole, 31, was arrested on Oct. 24 in connection to the incident that took place at the Las Vegas Strip property on Oct. 10, according to Metro.
Police said a fugitive task force that included officers from the San Bernardino and Los Angeles County sheriff's offices took Cole into custody without incident.
According to Metro, detectives with the department's Tourist Crimes Unit recovered chips valued at more than $396,000 following Cole's arrest. Authorities noted the total value of chips taken in the incident exceeded $1.6 million.
In addition, Metro said a tool believed to be used in the incident was found inside a gaming parlor room at the casino.
Cole is awaiting extradition to Nevada, according to police. He faces charges including grand larceny, burglary and possession of burglary tools.
