EL MIRAGE, AZ (CBS5) -

If Alberto Solis ever questions why he was arrested by El Mirage police officers, he only has to retrace the chain of events that led to his capture Monday afternoon.

Solis, 44, suspected in an earlier armed robbery, was apprehended after he assaulted a police officer as he tried to flee police through the halls of a Valley hospital, according to Detective Kim Walden of the El Mirage Police Department.

Solis was sought by police after a man told investigators Solis had robbed him and threatened to "cap" him with a gun in his car if he tried to get his money back. As the victim was talking with police around 1:20 p.m., Solis drove past and was eventually stopped by officers a short distance away.

After being taken into custody, Solis complained of being ill and was taken to the hospital, where he was examined and then bolted from the emergency room as police tried to take him back into custody.

He was apprehended after a brief struggle and booked into the Fourth Avenue Jail in Phoenix on suspicion of armed robbery, resisting arrest, aggravated assault and escape.
