An agreement announced Friday will pair Hilton's DoubleTree brand with the newly renovated Tropicana Hotel and Casino on the Las Vegas Strip.
Officials with Hilton said the resort at the south end of Las Vegas Boulevard will be franchised and known as "Tropicana Las Vegas – a DoubleTree by Hilton," effective in January, 2013.
The agreement will allow guests to earn and use Hilton HHonors points and airline miles at the Strip property, the Hilton company said.
The Tropicana has recently undergone a transformation that included a $200 million renovation of 1,600 guest rooms, the gaming floor and features of the 35-acre resort.
The property, though, has undergone at least two name changes for its nightlife area since opening the new renovations to guests in late 2010.
Hilton officials said the agreement also puts the company on the Las Vegas Strip for the first time in about 14 years.
