Buffalo Road will be closed between Russell Road and Patrick Lane from 9 p.m. on Oct. 28, to Dec. 24.
Workers will be doing construction on an enclosed flood channel during the closure, which begins Sunday night.
Drivers are being encouraged to avoid the area during the project in order to reduce the amount of traffic using the detours.
Portable message boards will be placed near the construction area prior to the closure.
The project is part of a $6.9 million flood control project stretching from Sunset Road to Hacienda Avenue.
TAB Contractors, Inc. is contracted to complete the work.
Construction is expected to be finished by late summer 2013.
