2-alarm fire rips through vacant Vegas business

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

A two-alarm fire in west Las Vegas caused about $500,000 worth of damage early Wednesday.

Las Vegas Fire and Rescue reported the blaze about 6:22 a.m. in the 3700 block of Sirius Avenue, near Valley View Boulevard, at an abandoned bakery.

A search of the address affected indicated the building was the Normandie Country Bakery.

There was no immediate word on what sparked the fire. There was also no reports of injuries.

Fire officials indicated the building was vacant and secure at the time.

Tim Szymanski of LVFR said the building was a total loss after the fire. Szymanski also said about two-thirds of the building's roof had collapsed when crews arrived.

Authorities advised motorists to avoid Desert Inn Road and Valley View following the fire.
